Members of the End Austerity Campaign — including Latindadd, the Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR), and Eurodad — recently hosted a virtual conference addressing the alarming regression of human rights in Latin America.
The event explored how mounting debt burdens and fiscal austerity measures are undermining social and economic rights across the region. Speakers emphasized the urgent need for sustainable and rights-based financing alternatives to replace harmful austerity policies and to support inclusive development and the fulfillment of human rights obligations.
The conference served as a call to action for governments, international institutions, and civil society to prioritize economic justice and human dignity in policymaking.
