Leadership announcement: Roberto Bissio joins the End Austerity Coalition

By April 9, 2026No Comments

The End Austerity Coalition is happy to announce that Roberto Bissio has been appointed as coordinator of the End Austerity Campaign (EAC).

Roberto is an Uruguayan journalist and campaigner with a solid experience in defending social justice, human rights (and women rights in particular) and environmental sustainability in multiple fora. He was the main organizer of the Social Watch network that followed up on international commitments to eradicate poverty and achieve gender equity. As an active participant in many networks and advocacy efforts, he has consistently promoted Southern voices in the international decision-making mechanisms.

“A new wave of austerity policy is to be expected under the guise of the current global crisis,” Bissio told us. “I hope to contribute to the EAC rising to this challenge and shifting the burden of adjustment onto those who are benefitting and deriving windfall profits from it.”

Roberto brings strategic vision, deep network connections, and a longstanding commitment to economic justice. His leadership will strengthen the EAC’s ability to coordinate action, influence policy, and build a global movement against austerity.

Welcome, Roberto!
